Samsung Galaxy S3, Down to Dirt, literally

Well the Samsung Galaxy S3 has released, finally. First impressions tell us that this device is a winner. Let's get down to dirt, literally (read about Design).

Design:

The Samsung Galaxy S3's design is " inspired by nature" says Samsung, it's not too evident from the outside but  its there. It's got a nice, big display with curved off edges and no straight lines. The screen's not as edge to edge as I'd hoped but it'll do. It'll do? The screen's a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display! Yes, it's better than the S2's! With that 1.4 GHZ processor there's minimal or zero lag for your HD videos. My-oh-my the Galaxy S3 is good looking but just don't compare it with the absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous HTC One, or your new Galaxy will feel bad :D.

Under the Hood:

Well the new Galaxy's definitely packing some heat. It's loaded with a speedy 1.4 GHZ Exynos Processor, which adds 200 MHZ to the S2's. An 8 MP camera does the recording full HD job on the backside, while the front makes do with a 1.9 MP for video chats. It has Bluetooth version 4.0, but only 2.0 on the USB side.

It's Running:

  • Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Samsung Touchwiz UI 4.0
  • It's DLNA enabled
  • and a whole lot more...

New Goodies:

Samsung has added a whole horde of new software. Such as Smart Stay (a highlight for those you read a lot on their phones), which makes sure the screen doesn't turn off as long as your staring at it. When your messaging someone but you want to call them instead, just hold the phone to your ear and the S3 will automatically call them, it's called Direct Call. If you have any missed calls or alerts pending, it gives a slight vibration while you pick up the phone, this is Smart Alert. The speciality being S Voice, which works somewhat like the personal assistant called Siri, who (or should it be which?) Apple built into the 4S. Unlike Siri it doesn't answer back to you (as far as I know).

Already half the features are called smart, as long as S doesn't stand for SMART then I'm cool, if not well...

Anyways Samsung's got the industry benchmark in their hands. What it loses out in design flair, and style it makes up for with its new features (most of them). Slated to cost around $800, this one's a winner for sure.
